A Day Trip to Stopica Cave from Zlatibor

Stopica Cave is one of the easier day trips from Zlatibor. It sits near the village of Rozanstvo, about 19 kilometers from the town center, so you are there in half an hour by car. The cave is open to visitors with a guide, and the whole walk inside takes around 40 minutes.
What you see inside
The cave is known for its travertine terraces. Water has built up shallow stone basins over thousands of years, and locals call them the bathtubs. They fill and step down one into the next. Deeper in you reach the Source of Life, a waterfall that runs hard in spring and after rain and thinner in dry summer weeks. In June it usually still has good flow.
The temperature inside stays around 8 degrees all year, so the cool hits you fast after a warm day outside.
- Travertine basins, the so called bathtubs.
- The Source of Life waterfall, strongest in spring.
- A steady 8 degrees inside, so bring a layer.
- Lit, railed paths, but the steps can be wet.
Getting there and combining with Gostilje
Most people drive. From Zlatibor you head toward Sirogojno and follow signs to Rozanstvo and the cave. There is a parking area at the top and a short walk down to the entrance. If you do not have a car, local agencies run half day tours that usually pair the cave with other stops.
The natural pairing is the Gostilje waterfall, roughly 15 kilometers on. It drops about 20 meters over stepped rock, and a wooden path with stairs lets you walk down to the base and back up. It is busier on summer weekends, so go in the morning if you want it quieter.
A full loop of cave plus waterfall, with the drive, fills about half a day. We are happy to point you to the current entrance times from the apartment, since they shift with the season.
Practical notes
- Wear shoes with grip, since both sites have wet steps.
- Bring a jacket for the cave even in summer.
- Carry small cash for tickets and parking.
- Start early on weekends to beat the crowds.
